About the Organization and Opportunity
Organization: The Rhode Island Army National Guard is a component of the United States Army that serves both federal and state governments. Its members are part-time soldiers who can be called up for federal service or deployed by the state governor to respond to emergencies and disasters within Rhode Island.
Opportunity: If you decide the RI Army National Guard may be a good option but still aren’t sure, you can attend the Recruit Sustainment Program Drill weekend as a “bring-a-buddy”. During this drill you will be able to do things the common person doesn’t usually get to experience such as Army combat water survival, Military movement tactics, and even rappel down a 90-foot wall. Think of this as your introduction to the Army National Guard. If you decide to enlist, you’d get paid to attend these monthly drills while waiting to leave for Initial Entry Training. During this time, you’ll learn military customs, physical fitness training, teamwork, leadership, and what to expect at Basic Combat Training.
Note: Must be at least 17 years of age & completed Sophomore year of high school.
