About the Organization and Opportunity
Organization: Brown University Health Workforce Development provides the opportunities, inspiration, and education to help you find your career in healthcare. Workforce Development at Brown University Health offers practical work experience, mentorship under professional career experts, training, and education strategies. Brown Health’s Workforce Development program was created for underemployed and unemployed adults (18+) looking to become trained and certified for today’s most in-demand entry-level healthcare positions that can lead to meaningful employment and career success. They also offer a Summer Youth Employment (SYE) program for Rhode Islanders ages 16 to 19. This is an eight-week, full-time paid employment opportunity that can lead to a meaningful career path in healthcare, with experience for lifetime success.
Opportunity: Brown University Health's Summer Youth Employment (SYE) program is designed to promote career exploration, professionalism, and essential skills development for young adults. The program offers a paid summer employment experience at a Brown University Health hospital or location for individuals 16 to 19 years old.
Participants are placed in a wide variety of departments throughout Brown University Health, including, but not limited to:
· Radiology
· Physical Therapy
· Cardiology
· Nursing
· Transport
· Central Processing
· Human Resources
· Food and Nutrition
· Respiratory Care
· Child Psychology
· Community Health
· Information Systems (IT)
Students will gain:
· 32-hour week paid job experience
· Career exploration in Rhode Island’s largest healthcare system
· Mentorship and networking with healthcare professionals
· Essential skills workshops
· Opportunity for continued employment
