DownCity Design at Providence Career and Technical Academy

On July 22nd and 24th, students participating in the DownCity Designers program at Providence Career & Technical Academy (PCTA) took part in JA It’s My Job (Soft Skills), a career-readiness program from Junior Achievement of Rhode Island.

Facilitated by Meg A. from Centreville Bank, this hands-on workshop helped students build key skills needed to thrive in the workforce. Over the two-day experience, students explored professional communication, how to prepare for job interviews, and the basics of writing strong resumes. The program also emphasized soft skills like listening, workplace etiquette, and presentation—tools that help students stand out to future employers.
This session marked the second official opportunity facilitated through RIEXL! By using RIEXL, nonprofits like DownCity can easily discover programs like JA It’s My Job that help prepare their students for real-world success.

Powering Futures: Engineering Students Explore Solar Careers with Posigen
On June 3, 2025, in Central Falls, RI, a group of engineering students from Providence Career and Technical Academy (PCTA) stepped out of the classroom and into the world of renewable energy. They witnessed how solar power comes to life and learned about the careers that make it possible.

Thanks to a partnership between Posigen and the RI Experiential Learning Navigator (RIEXL), students were invited to observe a live solar panel installation and connect with the professionals behind the project. This visit marked a major milestone as the first official opportunity facilitated through RIEXL.org, turning a digital platform into real-world impact.
